2012 F4 Champion

The 2012 season is wrapped up, and another championship won.

In fact, when you compare the points of the driver Jim Morton, to champions in other classes, Jim won scored more points than any other driver in Ontario this season

Overall, it was a good season.

Started off with some braking issues, which we word out to be overheating rear brakes due to the change in airflow due to the new diffuser.

Carbon fibre brake ducts were fabricated and install, and that problem was fix.

Early in the season a mis-fire at high revs developed.  We tried a few things, nothing seemed to work, so went back to stock settings, ecu, etc., and that seemed to help.

At Calabogie, Jim set a new track record for F4, then proceeded to bend a valve, ending the weekend prematurely.

After a new motor was installed, a test run at Sparta (St Thomas dragstrip) almost ended the season, as an oil line from the external oil pump came lose, pumping oil onto the hot exhaust and starting a fire.  Fortunately, the read body work was off, and a "helper" was standing trackside with a fire extinguisher in had, for just such an occurrence   It was a late night cleaning the car and repairing the damage, but we made it to the track for that weekend's race.

The very last race of the season was interesting, as a problem with the shift linkage developed, leaving the transmission stuck in fifth gear, on the first lap.

Overall, a great season--no crashes, no major damage, no rain races, and won the Formula 4 championship again.

Work continues on the new car.  Be sure to check the facebook site for updated photos, etc.

Have a great off-season!
